HVAC in Southwest Harbor and Tremont
Heat pumps, heating and cooling service and air purification for the quiet side of Mount Desert Island.
Serving the quiet side
Southwest Harbor and Tremont make up the quiet side of the island: working harbors, boatyards, and a higher share of year-round homes alongside summer cottages. Homes here are heated hard from October to May, so efficient heat makes a real difference to the bills.
For year-round houses, a whole-home cold-climate heat pump system can become the main heat, with the existing system kept as backup, and that can qualify for Efficiency Maine rebates. For cottages that are only partly used in winter, a single mini-split in the main living area is often enough.
Salt air and wind are hard on outdoor equipment near the water, so we pay attention to where outdoor units sit, how they are mounted, and keeping them clear of drifting snow.

Questions
Do you service equipment you did not install?
Yes. Tell us what you have and when it was last serviced, and we will take a look.
Can outdoor units handle the salt air and wind?
We place and mount outdoor units to limit exposure to spray and drifting snow, and check them on every service visit. Tell us how close the house is to the water and we will plan around it.
Is it worth adding a heat pump if I heat with oil?
For many year-round homes, yes. A heat pump can carry most of the heating season and cut oil use, and the oil system stays as backup. We can show you how it would work in your house on a free visit.
